DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College women's soccer team (1-1-1, 1-1-0 CC) defeated Shorter University (1-3, 0-2 CC) by a score of 2-0 at Ralph Lundy Field, as the Fleet earned their first win of the young season in their home opener on Wednesday afternoon.
The opening minutes saw an evenly contested affair between the Fleet and the Hawks, until some magic from
Alyssa Aleman in the 14th minute broke the deadlock. After an Erskine attack led to a corner kick, the sophomore winger sent the ball into the box from the set piece and straight into the back of the net, scoring directly from the corner to open the scoring. That 1-0 scoreline remained at the break, and despite the Fleet dominating the match for long stages of the second half, it remained just a one-goal cushion until a solo run and a finish from
Jordan Schuhlein in the final seconds put the finishing touches on win number one for the Fleet in 2025.
