HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Barton 10-9 Erskine (Final / 7 innings)

A chaotic doubleheader in North Carolina on Saturday began right out of the gates with the Fleet offense putting up a five-spot in its first at-bat, fueled by some Barton miscues and RBI singles from Mason McManus and Noah Hill. But, Barton responded with three runs in the bottom half of the first. In the third inning, RBIs from Hill and Quinn Allen helped the Fleet open up a 7-3 lead. However, the Bulldogs rattled off the next six runs of the game over the next two innings to put the Fleet behind 9-7 after four wild innings. But, the Fleet responded in the next half-inning as Josean Sanchez delivered a clutch two-run double to tie the game at 9. Barton, though, responded in the sixth inning with a bases-loaded walk to go back in front. The Fleet limited the damage to just the one run but were unable to reply in their final at-bat of the opener.

Game 2: Barton 10-6 Erskine
In the back half of the doubleheader, pitching stole the show early with the game scoreless after two innings. Then, in the third inning, Josean Sanchez scored the game's first run on a wild pitch, and Jorge Pascual launched a solo home run in the next frame to give Erskine a 2-0 lead. After Barton scored three runs in the fifth to take its first lead of the game, the Fleet instantly responded, thanks to a huge two-out, two-run double to put Erskine back in front, 4-3, at the stretch. But, the hosts posted a six-spot in the bottom of the seventh to take control, and Erskine could not climb back from the late deficit.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine is on the road in the mid-week, traveling to Georgia College (24-15, 16-2 PBC) on Tuesday at 5 p.m. The Fleet knocked off the Bobcats, 6-3, in Due West back in February.
