HOW IT HAPPENED
Playing its final road conference games of the season this weekend, Erskine got off to a slow start, trailing 3-0 after the first inning. The Fleet eventually got on the board in the sixth inning, as a wild pitch allowed
Matt Layton to score, cutting the deficit to two runs. But, the Braves responded with a pair of runs in the seventh, meaning the Fleet trailed 5-1 heading into the final frame. The Fleet didn't go quietly in the ninth, though, as Josean Sanchez's RBI single made it a 5-2 game, and after Layton followed with a base hit of his own, Erskine had the tying run at the plate but were unable to get any closer.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine and UNCP wrap up the three-game series with a doubleheader on Saturday, starting at noon.
