HOW IT HAPPENED
Erskine and Francis Marion do not have a conference weekend series scheduled in 2025, but the Fleet and Patriots battled in a non-conference midweek game on Tuesday in Due West. Taking on the team with the most Conference Carolinas wins so far this season, Erskine starting pitcher
Eli Botelle began his outing with four consecutive scoreless frames. Offensively, the Fleet struck first in the third, thanks to an RBI single from reigning Conference Carolinas Player of the Week,
Dylan Wanat. However, FMU eventually broke through, scoring all four of its runs in the fifth inning. Erskine got a run back in the bottom half on a pinch-hit RBI single from
Jorge Pascual to make it a 4-2 game.
Kyle Knoll,
Nick Groover, and
Jake Short all had productive outings out of the bullpen to keep it a two-run game, but the Fleet were slowed offensively in the final frames.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine returns to conference play this weekend, starting a three-game tilt at UNC Pembroke (23-19, 11-13 CC) on Friday at 1 p.m.
