HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Emmanuel 5-2 Erskine
In the Fleet's conference opener, Erskine and Emmanuel were scoreless through the first two frames, until the Lions opened the scoring with three runs in the third.
Gabby Burroughs launched a solo home run to get Erskine on the board in the fourth. However, Emmanuel answered back with a run of its own in the bottom half and added another in the fifth, as Erskine trailed 5-1. Burroughs delivered again in the sixth with another solo shot, her second of the game and seventh big fly of the season, but the Fleet were unable to get any closer in the opener.
Game 2: Emmanuel 10-5 Erskine
The scoring started much earlier in Game 2, as
Peyton Rabon's RBI single gave the Fleet a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. However, the Lions posted a four-spot in the bottom half to put the Fleet behind. But, Erskine responded, starting with an RBI groundout from
Emily Johnson in the second to make it 4-2. Back-to-back RBI doubles from Rabon and
Kennedy Crouch in the third tied the game at 4, and then
Mckinna Taylor's RBI single scored Crouch to put the Fleet back in front, 5-4. But, the Lions tied the game in the bottom half and then regained the lead in the fifth, pulling away from the Fleet in the final innings of the back half of the doubleheader.
