HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Southern Wesleyan 10-2 Erskine
In the Fleet's first home conference game of the season, Erskine started slow as SWU jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and added a five-run third inning to put the Fleet in a sizeable deficit. A two-run single off the bench from Summer Nelson in the fourth inning got Erskine on the board, but the Fleet were unable to overcome a slow start to begin the day.
Game 2: Southern Wesleyan 8-4 Erskine
In the back half of the doubleheader, the visitors opened the scoring in the top of the first, but Erskine had a quick response via
Amber Clark's two-RBI single to give Erskine a 2-1 lead after the first inning. Starting pitcher
Payton Cox posted scoreless innings in the second and third and an RBI single from
Emily Brown extended the Fleet's lead to 3-1 after three innings. However, SWU hit a three-run home run in the fourth to take its first lead of the game and added a few more runs in the next few frames to pull away from the Fleet.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine goes on the road this weekend, starting with a trip to Francis Marion University (25-3, 7-1 CC) in a doubleheader on Friday at 4 p.m.
