AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Erskine College baseball team (3-1) defeated Augusta University (1-4) by a score of 18-6 at Jaguar Field on Tuesday afternoon to begin the road trip this week for the Fleet.

Former Jaguar, Dylan Wanat, went 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs, four runs scored and four driven in, as part of an offensive explosion from the Fleet offense.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Starting a four-game road trip this week in Augusta, senior outfielder Dylan Wanat opened the scoring with a high-arcing solo home run over the right field wall in the very first inning. Augusta tied the game in the second inning, but starting pitcher Rob Willis was able to limit the damage and keep the game tied. Then, the Erskine bats came roaring to life in the third inning. Jude Littrell regained the Erskine lead with a two-run single back up the middle, and Pierce Radke lofted a two-run single of his own just moments later, before freshman Josh Hungler drove in a pair of runs himself and Erskine had opened up a 7-1 lead. The Fleet weren't done yet in the frame, though, as Josean Sanchez tallied an RBI, scoring Hungler, and then Wanat delivered again, with a towering three-run shot off the scoreboard in right field to cap a 10-run third inning for the Fleet. Erskine added more runs in the sixth thanks to a balk, a bases-loaded walk from JT Yaccarino, and a RBI single from Kort McLean to push their lead to 14-3. In the ninth inning, Andrew Chandler and Yaccarino each had run-scoring hits to put the finishing touches on an 18-run afternoon for the Fleet to open the road trip.

THE PLAYER
Playing against his former team, senior outfielder Dylan Wanat had a career day at the plate. Wanat went 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs, a double, four runs scored, and four RBIs, as he was at the center of an outstanding afternoon from the Fleet bats.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine heads down to the Sunshine State to take on three different Florida schools, starting Thursday against Lynn University (1-2) at 2 p.m.
