DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College softball team (0-10) lost both games of a doubleheader against Flagler College (5-3) at the Erskine Softball Complex on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Flagler 17-5 Erskine (Final / 5 innings)
Back at home to start a 10-game home stand, it was the visiting Saints who jumped out in front early with a five-run top of the first. Two-run home runs from Maddie Ingram and Brooke Patterson, along with an RBI single from Gabby Burroughs got the Fleet to within 8-5 after three innings, but Erskine was unable to keep up with a blistering hot Flagler offense in the opener.

Game 2: Flagler 6-2 Erskine
After an offensive frenzy to begin the day, both teams went quietly in each of their first two at-bats in the back half of the doubleheader. The visitors would open the scoring in the top of the third with a pair of runs, but Erskine responded in the bottom half. A bases-loaded walk drawn by Maddie Ingram was followed by Ellie Rapson being hit by a pitch and the Fleet were level at 2 without the benefit of a hit in the inning. The game stayed tied until the fifth inning when Flagler scored three times in the frame to regain its lead and the Fleet were unable to answer back from their second deficit of the game.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine has over a week off before welcoming in Tusculum University (10-0) next Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
