HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Tusculum 9-6 Erskine

Facing a Tusculum team that was undefeated for awhile to start the season, the Pioneers looked the part, scoring twice in the top of the first, as Erskine fell into an early deficit. But, Gabby Burroughs cranked a two-out solo home run in the third to make it 2-1. That scoreline remained the same for the next few innings, but eventually the Pioneers offense broke through with a six-run top of the fifth. However, the Fleet instantly batted back into the game. Peyton Rabon, Maddie Ingram, and Kennedy Crouch each had run-scoring singles in the bottom of the fifth as the Fleet answered with five runs of their own, now trailing only 8-6. But, Tusculum scored a run in the sixth and Erskine was unable to get the tying run to the plate in their final at-bats.

Game 2: Tusculum 11-6 Erskine
Again, the visitors scored in their first at-bat, but the Fleet offense responded in the very next inning. After a leadoff single from Amber Clark and sacrifice bunt, Savannah Koester delivered with an RBI single that brought Clark home and tied the game. Koester stole second and was driven in on a base hit from Emily Johnson, giving the Fleet a 2-1 lead. The Pioneers regained the lead with a home run in the top of the third, but it was short-lived. Kennedy Crouch answered back with a two-run blast of her own, putting Erskine back in front, 4-3. A few batters later, Summer Nelsen joined in a with a big fly of her own and the Fleet had opened up a 6-3 lead after three innings. But, the Pioneers lineup continued to threaten and scored in each of the next three innings until they had an 11-6 lead, which stayed true for the final few frames of the day.
