HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: USC Aiken 6-5 Erskine
The Fleet trailed 3-0 after two innings in the first contest of the day but worked their way back into the game. A third-inning error allowed
Addy Crawford to score the first run of the game, and then
Gabby Burroughs and
Peyton Rabon each had RBI singles in the fifth to tie the game. Another Pacers error allowed
Hailey Watson to score in the top of the sixth and give Erskine its first lead of the day, 4-3. However, the Pacers answered with three runs of the bottom half of the inning and the Fleet were down to their last at-bat. Burroughs led off the seventh with a monster home run to get the tying run to the plate, but Erskine was unable to get closer.
Game 2: USC Aiken 8-3 Erskine
In the back half of the doubleheader,
Peyton Rabon got the Fleet started early with an RBI double in the top of the first to give Erskine an early lead. But, USC Aiken answered with a run of their own in the bottom half of the opening frame and then took the lead in the third inning. An
Emily Brown two-run single in the sixth gave the Fleet a chance for a comeback, cutting the deficit to 6-3, but the Pacers got both of those runs back in the bottom half.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine starts an extensive 10-game home stand to conclude non-conference play on Friday with a doubleheader against Flagler College (3-3) at 1 and 3 p.m.
