Erskine Baseball | Bateman, Prince named as Co-Head Coaches

DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College Baseball program has named Scotty Bateman and Jimmy Prince as co-Head Coaches for the upcoming 2026 season, Erskine Director of Athletics Mark Peeler announced on Thursday night.

Bateman and Prince both spent 2025 with the Fleet, with Prince serving as the Associate Head Coach and Developmental Head Coach, and Bateman as the Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.

Bateman joined the Fleet prior to the start of last season from Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ), where he helped the Manta Rays reach the semifinals of the JUCO World Series.

"I could not be more excited to help lead this program alongside a phenomenal friend and leader, Jimmy Prince," Bateman said. "Coach Crocco has left this program in fantastic shape as a model program of Conference Carolinas, and we look forward to continuing to push the ceiling further. I am especially thankful to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and Athletic Director Mark Peeler for allowing us this opportunity to impact lives and lead the charge. I also want to thank my beautiful wife, Hannah, for always encouraging and supporting me along this journey. God Bless and Wheels Up!"

Prince has been a part of the Erskine Baseball coaching staff since the fall of 2021 in numerous roles from volunteer assistant to now co-head coach.

"First, I want to say congratulations to Coach Crocco. What an amazing opportunity he is being awarded for his hard work and serving others over the years. It is very well deserved and I'm very proud and super excited for him," Prince said. "God has had his hand in this process since I took the job at Erskine, and I want to thank Him for the opportunity to lead these young men through this part of their life and to help them grow as men and develop as student-athletes."

"I would like to thank Athletic Director Mark Peeler, President Dr. Steve Adamson, Coach Crocco, my best friend Wesley Brown, my wife, Jennifer, and kids, Nolan and Kala. I'm very humbled, thankful and excited to help lead and continue to serve the players, this college and this community. I can't wait to see how God is going to use these players this season. Go Fleet!"

Bateman and Prince will continue preparing the Fleet for the upcoming 2026 season, which begins the final weekend of January against rival Lander University.
