DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College women's soccer team (2-4-1, 1-4-0 CC) was defeated by King University (5-3, 3-2 CC) by a score of 1-0 at Parks Field on Saturday afternoon.
A 59th-minute goal from the hosts proved to be the difference, but not for a spectacular effort from Erskine goalkeeper
Valentina Santana, who totaled a career-best 21 saves. That number is the most by a Fleet goalie since at least the 2012 season and is the most in Conference Carolinas since at least the 2010 season.

FROM COACH HUTTO
"Another great defensive performance. Val came up big and put in another outstanding performance to keep us in the game. We were unable to match the energy going forward and didn't capitalize on our early opportunities."
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine is on the road all this week, starting with a match at Shorter University (1-5-1, 0-4-1 CC) on Tuesday at 5 p.m. The Fleet downed the Hawks by a score of 2-0 in Due West last month.
