DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College men's basketball team (7-12, 4-8 CC) defeated Belmont Abbey College (1-14, 0-12 CC) by a score of 68-62 at Belk Arena on Tuesday night.
Erskine led for most of the evening and got a combined 41 points from senior
Moses Cheek and sophomore
Grant Lovette. The Fleet opened up a 60-46 lead at the 4:00 mark of the second half and were able to hold off a late Belmont Abbey rally, picking up their fourth consecutive win on their home floor.

THE PLAYER
Senior guard
Moses Cheek scored a team-high 22 points on an efficient 7-for-11 shooting from the field, including four made threes, as well as being a perfect 4-for-4 at the free throw line. Cheek had a number of clutch baskets and free throws down the stretch to help seal the win, and also added five rebounds, two assists, and a pair of steals.
THE TEAM
Erskine shot 41% (21-51) from the field and 31% (10-32) from the three-point line, as well as 80% (16-20) from the free throw line. The Fleet won the turnover battle, 13 to 8, and had a 17 to 11 advantage in points off turnovers, while limiting the Crusaders to just 34% shooting from the field.
WHAT'S NEXT?Â
Erskine stays at home and welcomes in non-conference foe, Johnson & Wales University (6-12) on Thursday at 7 p.m. for the Fleet's second meeting of the season against the Wildcats. Erskine won in Charlotte, 84-77, back in late November.
