DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College men's basketball team (8-12, 4-8 CC) defeated Johnson & Wales University (6-13) by a score of 88-67 at Belk Arena on Thursday night.
Christian Monroe carried the Fleet through a high-scoring first half, as 21 of his 25 points came in the opening period to help the Fleet to a 42-35 lead at the break. The Erskine defense took over in the second half, including highlight-worthy plays from freshman
Zion Brown, who stuffed the stat sheet (11 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 blocks, 3 steals) as the Fleet pulled away for their fifth straight home win.

Sophomore guard
Christian Monroe poured in a game-high 25 points on an efficient 10-for-14 shooting from the field, and he tied a career-high 5 made threes. Monroe had 21 points in the first half alone, helping the Fleet come from behind after a fast start from JWU.
THE TEAM
Erskine tied a season-high, shooting 54% (36-67) from the field, while being 35% (12-34) from the three-point line, as well as 80% (4-5) from the free throw line. The Fleet's defense took over in the second half, holding JWU to just 32% from the field after the break. Erskine also held a decided 24 to 9 advantage in fast break points.

Erskine continues its homestand back in Conference Carolinas play this weekend, hosting the East Division leaders, Chowan University (11-6, 8-3 CC), on Saturday at 4 p.m.
