DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College men's basketball team (6-10, 3-6 CC) defeated Southern Wesleyan University (4-10, 2-6 CC) by a score of 77-72 at Belk Arena on Wednesday evening.
Sophomore guards
Grant Lovette (24 points, 11 rebounds) and
Christian Monroe (22 points, 11 rebounds) each tallied double-doubles and helped the Fleet fend off SWU down the stretch, as Erskine won its third consecutive game for the first time since January 2019.

THE PLAYER
Christian Monroe earned his second career double-double, totaling 22 points to go with 11 rebounds. Monroe shot 7-for-11 from the field, 2-for-5 from three-point territory and 6-for-7 from the free throw line, while also adding three assists and no turnovers. Wednesday was the third time this season Monroe reached the 20-point mark in a game.
THE TEAM
Erskine shot 39% (25-65) from the field and 30% (13-44) from the three-point line, as well as 78% (14-18) from the free throw line. The Fleet's defense shined through again, holding SWU to just 38% from the field and just two made threes in 20 attempts from long range.
WHAT'S NEXT?Â
Erskine finished its four-game home stand with a 3-1 record and now will go on the road for the first time in 2025 to take on Francis Marion University (5-10, 3-4 CC) on Saturday at 4 p.m.
