HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: Lees-McRae 7-5 Erskine
Erskine and Lees-McRae went scoreless through the first two innings, but the Bobcats' offense came to life in the next two frames, opening up a 6-0 lead. Hailey Patterson got the Fleet on the board with an RBI single in the fifth, but LMC answered back with a run of its own in the bottom half, meaning Erskine trailed 7-1 after five innings. But, the Fleet refused to go quietly, as Gabby Burroughs led off the sixth with a double and came around to score, before McKinna Taylor delivered with an RBI double to make it 7-3. Mallory Ruzicka breezed through the bottom half of the sixth, giving the Fleet one final chance at the plate. Ellie Rapson came off the bench and singled to start the inning, and Burroughs launched her 12th home run of the season to cut the deficit in half. However, the Fleet were unable to get any closer as their comeback efforts fell just short in the opener.

Game 2: Lees-McRae 8-2 Erskine
Lees-McRae scored in the opening inning of Game 2, but starting pitcher Payton Cox settled and kept it a 1-0 scoreline heading into the fourth inning. McKinna Taylor and Hailey Patterson each had base hits to start the Erskine threat, and Ellie Rapson delivered an RBI single, tying the game at one. LMC regained the lead in the bottom half, but a Kyndall Chandler leadoff single in the top of the fifth followed by a Gabby Burroughs double brought home Chandler to tie the game once again. However, the Bobcats scored six times in the ensuing inning as they pulled away from the Fleet late in Game 2.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine has six home games in the final week of the regular season, starting with a divisional battle against North Greenville University (30-18, 13-7 CC) on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
