HOW IT HAPPENED
After a slow start to the season in the opening weekend, Josean Sanchez kicked off the Fleet's first mid-week battle with a bang, launching a leadoff home run to give the Fleet an early lead. Augusta responded with a run of its own in the bottom half, but the Fleet's patience paid off in the second. Erskine drew four walks and had a hit-by-pitch in the frame, the last of the free passes worked by Sanchez and Daniel Hernandez each bringing home a run to give Erskine a 3-1 lead. A two-run home run from the Jaguars in the third inning tied the game, and both pitching staffs settled in after a wild start. In the sixth inning, the Fleet offense came back to life, utilizing an extensive two-out rally. It started with an infield single from Hernandez to bring home Caden Marsters that gave the Fleet the lead again. Then, Sanchez scored on a Jaguars error, and eventually Jorge Pascual became the third Fleet hitter of the game to draw a bases-loaded walk as Erskine opened up a 6-3 lead. The Fleet went in order in the seventh, but put the game beyond reach with another crooked number in the eighth. A walk followed by two hit batsmen to open the frame put the Jaguars in hot water, as Erskine loaded the bases with nobody out for Dale Francis, Jr. And the reigning Conference Carolinas Player of the Year put the finishing touches on the win with a massive grand slam to seal a 10-4 win.

THE PLAYER
Dale Francis, Jr. finished the day 2-for-4 including a game-sealing grand slam in the eighth inning for his second big fly of the young season.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine stays on the road this weekend as the Fleet visit the Sunshine State for their next three games, starting with a rematch at Lynn University (4-0) on Thursday at 2 p.m. Lynn walked off the Fleet last season after Armando Becerra tied the game with a clutch home run in the top half of the ninth.
