HOW IT HAPPENED
Lander jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, but the Fleet continued their trend of explosive innings offensively in the middle third of Saturday's game. Following a bases loaded walk from
Ben Maskin in the fifth inning to get the Fleet on the board,
Christian Rivera cleared the bases with a three-run double to get Erskine within a run, 5-4. The Bearcats got two of the runs back in the bottom half, but the Erskine bats stayed hot in the sixth. Josean Sanchez erased the Bearcats' two-run innings moments earlier with a two-RBI knock of his own. Rivera followed with a sacrifice fly to tie the game, and a
Dale Francis, Jr. RBI single scored Sanchez and put the Fleet ahead for the first time today, 8-7. However, the hosts scored the final six runs of the game in the series finale.
THE PLAYER
Following some success in the first two games, junior infielder Josean Sanchez moved up to the top of the lineup on Saturday and did not disappoint. The Erskine second baseman went 3-for-4 with a walk, two runs scored, and two RBIs, serving as the catalyst for the Fleet offense.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine makes the trip down to the peach state to take on Augusta University (0-3) on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
