HOW IT HAPPENED
Erskine had all seven of the total shots in the first half, but the match went to the break still scoreless. It stayed 0-0 until the 62nd minute, when the Fleet won a corner, took it short and quick, leading to a dangerous cross from Rebekah Wiles that made its way to the back post, where Clair Lewis tapped home from point-blank range to give the Fleet a deserving lead. Less than two minutes later, Wiles received the ball in midfield and turn and ran at the Hawks' back line, before unleashing a high shot from well outside the box that went over the Shorter goalkeeper's outstretched jump and into the back of the net to double Erskine's lead. The Fleet had numerous chances in the closing stages to get a third goal and were nearly perfect defensively, stifling the Hawks of any real attacking chances to seal a 2-0 home win.

THE PLAYER
Junior forward Clair Lewis did not start the match but was extremely impactful in her 53 minutes off the bench. Lewis created a number of chances for the Fleet and scored the opening goal of the match, tapping a cross home at a crowded back post in the 62nd minute.

THE TEAM
Erskine recorded all 20 shots in the match and totaled 7 shots on target. Eight different Fleet players tallied a shot, and Erskine had a 6 to 1 advantage in corners.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine goes on the road for the final time in the 2024 regular season, visiting Southern Wesleyan University (5-5-4, 3-3-3 CC) for the second time this year on Thursday at 3:30 p.m.
