HOW IT HAPPENED
In another unique non-conference matchup against a conference foe, Converse started the match on the strong foot, and their early pressure was rewarded with a 21st-minute goal from Brooklyn Galler. Erskine responded to conceding the opening goal well, showing more energy and connectivity, but the Valkyries proved a tough force to get through as the match headed to halftime at 1-0 in favor of the visitors. The second half began in a very choppy matter with neither side able to get into any rhythm with their possession. The Valkyries continued to create a bulk of the scoring chances, but the Fleet back line was resilient and made timely challenges, along with eight saves from
Braeden Johnson. As the match entered the final stages, the game went into a lightning delay in the 84th minute. The delay lasted 35 minutes before the teams retook the field and played the remaining six minutes. Erskine chased an equalizing relentlessly, but came up just short, falling by a score of 1-0.
THE TEAM
Converse outshot Erskine 19 to 0 and had all 9 shots on target in the match.
