WINGATE, N.C. – Erskine College senior infielder
Ashby Smith has been named the Southeast Region Player of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), officials announced Tuesday afternoon.
Smith finished last week hitting .522 (12-of-23) with 15 RBI and 10 runs scored. Smith slugged 1.261 and owned an on-base percentage of .577. He had an amazing nine extra-base hits, with five doubles and four home runs. He had multiple RBI and runs scored in three of Erskine's five games last week.
Georgia Southwestern's Nick McCollum was named the Pitcher of the Week.
