HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1: North Greenville 7-2 Erskine

NGU opened the scoring with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first, but starting pitcher Jared Guell settled in and kept the deficit at one. In the third inning, the Erskine offense broke through with sacrifice fly of its own, courtesy of Tariq Bacon. A few batters later, Ashby Smith put the Fleet in front with a run-scoring single, taking a 2-1 lead. But, the top-ranked Crusaders scored six times in the fourth inning and took the first game, 7-2.

Game 2: North Greenville 5-3 Erskine
In the third and final game of the series, the Fleet used some offensive power to jump on top early, thanks to home runs from Armando Becerra and Dale Francis, Jr. as Erskine led 2-0 after the first inning. An RBI from Tyler Smith in the fourth inning equaled out an NGU run, as Erskine led 3-1 halfway through the fourth inning. But, North Greenville scored four runs in their half of the frame, and led 5-3. Kevin Heinrich and Johnny Hummel combined for five scoreless innings out of the Fleet bullpen that kept Erskine within striking distance, but the Fleet were unable to cut into the deficit.

THE PLAYER
Kevin Heinrich was phenomenal out the Erskine bullpen in Game 3, tossing three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and striking out a pair.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine returns home for a non-conference game against Limestone University (8-13, 3-6 SAC) on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Grier Field. The Fleet routed the Saints, 15-3, in Gaffney earlier this season.
