Erskine Women's Tennis | Parr set to reach historic milestone on Thursday

DUE WEST, S.C. – Erskine College Women's Tennis Head Coach Calhoun Parr will coach the 500th match of his Flying Fleet career on Thursday afternoon when Erskine takes on Lander University at 2 p.m. at the Sloan-Cox Tennis Courts in the Fleet's 2023 home opener.

"From the start of my time coaching at Erskine, I have always given God the glory for the positive things that have happened with the women's tennis team at Erskine. God has blessed the team more than anyone could have imagined!" Parr said.

Parr, now in his 23rd season at the helm of the Fleet, has posted an impressive 338-161 overall record, including a 220-45 record in Conference Carolinas play. He's totaled 11 regular season conference titles and 12 conference tournament titles, most recently in the 2021 season. Parr has led the Fleet to all 12 of its NCAA Tournament appearances and has been named Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year 9 times.

In 2005, Parr was named the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Coach of the Year after leading Erskine to a 22-2 record. In 2011, the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) named Parr the South Carolina Coach of the Year, after leading the Fleet to a perfect 9-0 conference record in the regular season and another conference tournament title.

In 2019, Parr was inducted into the Flying Fleet Athletic Hall of Fame and is the longest tenured active head coach at Erskine, turning the Fleet into a usual contender in the Southeast Region.
