Erskine Softball | Hawkins to be inducted into USA Softball Hall of Fame

DUE WEST, S.C. – Erskine Softball head coach Alleen Hawkins is set to be inducted into the USA Softball Hall of Fame this evening at the Mid Carolina Club, as one of five members of the 2023 Hall of Fame inductee class.

"I am so honored with this selection. This means so much when you are recognized for your lifetime of work!" Hawkins said. "Softball has been a huge part of my life for a long time and I have been honored and humbled to be able to surround myself with such wonderful players and colleagues."

Hawkins is set to begin her 23rd season at the helm of the Flying Fleet in 2024 has led Erskine to a pair of Conference Carolinas regular season titles as well as a tournament title in 2011. In 2019, Hawkins guided the Fleet to an NCCAA National Championship in their inaugural year as a member of the NCCAA. A three-time Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year recipient, she led Erskine to its first ever NCAA Regional appearance in 2011 and is closing in on the 1,000 win milestone in her collegiate coaching career.

Hawkins will be inducted into the USA Softball Hall of Fame along with Jerry Snyder, Ken Hopkins, Lou Gareis, and Richard Lundy. The class will be formally honored this evening at the Mid Carolina Club as part of the annual Hall of Fame Banquet.

Erskine begins its 2024 campaign on the opening weekend of February with a pair of matches at USC Beaufort. The Fleet will open the season on Friday, February 2 against Tusculum, before taking on the Sand Sharks the next day.
