DUE WEST, S.C. – The Erskine College women's soccer team (0-5, 0-2 CC) was defeated by the University of North Carolina at Pembroke (4-1, 2-0 CC) by a score of 8-0 on Saturday afternoon at Huggins Field.

The Braves have won both meetings against the Fleet.
THE MATCH
The reigning Conference Carolinas Tournament champions and preseason favorites to win the league again in 2022, UNC Pembroke took an early lead at Huggins Field on an own goal five minutes into the match. The Braves controlled possession and chances for the remainder of the half as they took a 5-0 lead into the break. UNCP added three more goals in the second half as the match finished, 8-0.
THE TEAM
Erskine was outshot 34 to 3 and UNC Pembroke had an 18 to 2 advantage in shots on target.

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Fleet play their first conference road match of the year on Tuesday, when they travel to King University (1-3-1, 1-0-1 CC) at 1:00 p.m. The Tornado knocked off Erskine, 3-1, in Due West last season, but the Fleet were victorious in their last trip to Bristol, a 2-1 win in the opening round of the 2021 Conference Carolinas Tournament behind a game-winning goal from Katie Cauble.
