AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Erskine College baseball team (28-20, 17-13 CC) enacted some revenge with a come-from-behind win against Augusta University (14-30, 6-19 PBC) by a score of 3-2 at Jaguar Field on Tuesday afternoon. A bases loaded walk from
Christian Rivera capped a three-run ninth inning that gave Erskine the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Erskine starting pitcher,
Graham McCurry, was phenomenal through his first three innings on the mound but was matched by three scoreless frames from the Augusta's pitching. In the fourth inning, an RBI single from the Jaguars opened the scoring. McCurry, along with reliever
Harry Bernard, kept the Fleet within just one run, but Erskine's offense was held in check by a "bullpen game" from the Jaguars as they used seven different pitchers to get through the first eight innings of the game.
Colbe Crim recorded four big outs in the late innings that kept the Fleet within striking distance, trailing 2-0. Erskine had tallied seven hits through the first eight innings but could not find a breakthrough. However,
Tariq Bacon led off the bottom of the ninth with a double and scored on a
Kane Fisher double as the Fleet first baseman cut the deficit in half.
Griffin Jester pinch ran for Fisher at second base, representing the tying run, and senior
Gregory Sanders tied the game with a single that scored Jester.
Kyle Marti kept the line moving with a single before
Armando Becerra dropped down a beautiful bunt single that loaded the bases and gave
Christian Rivera a chance to give Erskine it's first lead. And Rivera delivered, drawing a bases-loaded walk that scored Sanders as Erskine ralled in its final at-bat and took a 3-2 lead, needing just three outs for a win.
Zach Overholt came on in the bottom of the ninth and was able to work around a leadoff single, earning his first save of the year and finishing a 3-2 comeback victory for the Fleet.
THE PLAYER
Gregory Sanders was 3-for-4 at the plate, including a game-tying RBI single in the ninth inning. Sanders also scored the winning run for Erskine later in the inning on a bases loaded walk.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Tuesday was originally scheduled to be Erskine's last game of the regular season, but the Fleet have added a game on Wednesday, as they will take on Georgia Gwinnett College (35-12), the reigning NAIA National Champions. The Grizzles are currently ranked at No. 11 in the NAIA polls this year.
