HOW IT HAPPENED
Erskine starting pitcher
Harry Bernard stranded a runner on third with just one out in the first inning thanks to a strikeout and a lineout to keep the game scoreless. Then, in the second inning,
Kane Fisher launched his third big fly of the season, a two-run home run to left field to give Erskine an early 2-0 lead. Bernard continued to shine on the mound, holding the Saints off the board until the fifth inning, when a safety squeeze bunt cut Erskine's lead in half, 2-1. Bernard limited the damage in the inning, but the Erskine offense was held in check and Limestone scored a single run in the sixth, seventh, and eighth inning to win the mid-week matchup by a score of 4-2.
THE PLAYER
Kane Fisher was 2-for-4 at the plate, including a two-run home run in the second inning that gave Erskine an early lead. Fisher also added a double in the seventh inning.
WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine returns home and resumes conference play this weekend for a three-game series against King University (11-10, 8-6 CC), starting Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. The Fleet swept a four-game set at King last season.
