HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter:
Emory & Henry received the opening kickoff and scored a field goal on its first drive to take an early 3-0 lead. But, the Erskine defense tried to inject some of its momentum into the game on the Wasps next drive. E&H had the ball inside the Erskine 30-yard line and were threatening to add to their lead. The Fleet defense forced a 4th down and 2, and stuffed the Wasps' QB on a run play to force a turnover on downs. But, a stout Emory & Henry defense kept the Fleet off the board, and the Wasps added a touchdown at the end of the quarter.

Second Quarter:
E&H added another touchdown with about four minutes remaining in the quarter and kicked a 27-yard field goal as time expired in the half to take a 20-0 lead into the break.

Third Quarter:
The Wasps built on the momentum from the close to the first half, adding 12 more points in the third quarter and taking a 32-0 lead. Jalen Samuels came off the bench for the Fleet and provided a spark in the closing stages of the quarter, rushing for 25 yards on Erskine's final drive of the quarter.

Fourth Quarter:
Both defenses controlled a rain-filled fourth quarter as Emory & Henry held on for a 32-0 win over Erskine on the Fleet's Senior Day where 25 Erskine seniors were honored prior to the start of the game. This senior class was the group that joined the Fleet in 2019 and helped revive Erskine Football after a 70-year gap.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine wraps up its 2022 season on the road against Barton College (3-7, 2-6 SAC) next Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The Bulldogs defeated Erskine, 38-25, in Greenwood last year, but the Fleet took down Barton in their season opener last Spring, in a historic 30-28 win in Wilson.
