DUE WEST, S.C. – Erskine Baseball's Dayan Reinoso signed a contract with the MLB's Los Angeles Angels on Friday night. Reinoso is currently with the Spartanburg Spartanburgers in the Coastal Plain League for the summer following a tremendous junior year for the Fleet.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to start my professional baseball career and am excited to get to work and continue to get better," Reinoso said.
 
Reinoso is the now 18^th player to play professional baseball from Erskine College since 2005 and the first Conference Carolinas representative to sign a contract with an MLB team this season. During Reinoso's time with the Spartanburgers, he drew the attention of the Los Angeles Angels with is ability to hit at a high level and pitch.  He was clocked at 95 mph consistently and touched 98 mph.  Dayan also led the team in batting and was a backend pull pen arm.  Dayan has continued to build on his success that he had for the Flying Fleet this past spring during his time in the Coastal Plain League this summer.

"Dayan's work ethic and God given ability has given him this incredible opportunity.  Dayan will make an immediate impact to any team he is apart of.  He is one of the most humble and respectful young men that I have ever coached and he is deserving of this opportunity," Erskine Head Coach Mark Crocco said.

Crocco said the Angels will give Reinoso a chance to pitch and hit at least during the early stages of his professional career. 

Reinoso is hitting .333 in 150 at-bats this summer for Spartanburg and is second in the league with 12 doubles. The junior also has 11 strikeouts in 8.1 innings on the mound in the wood bat league. This comes after a superb campaign for the Fleet in 2021 where Reinoso hit .340 with an OPS over 1.000 including 23 extra-base hits.
