Box Score Sumter, SC- The Erskine Women's Tennis Team advanced to the Conference Carolinas Championship match by cruising past #4 seed Belmont Abbey, 5-1 in the semifinals on Saturday morning. Luize Valtere. The duo teamed for a dominating 6-0 win at #2 doubles. Valtere made easy work of Abbey's Elliot Peterson at #3 singles, winning 6-1, 6-3. Wright followed at #4 singles with a 7-6, 6-3 win over Madelyn Schott.
Freshman
Czarina Aguirre joined Wright and Valtere with perfect days, winning 6-2 at #3 doubles with partner and fellow freshman
Lana Vukovic. Aguirre then defeated Abbey's Talia Semaah, 7-6, 6-1 at #5 singles. Conference Carolinas "Player of the Year"
Emma Bentz picked up the Fleet's 5th point with a win at #1 singles. The freshman topped Abbey's Kayla Vaughan, 7-6, 6-0.
Erskine will face the University of Mount Olive on Sunday in the Championship match. Match time will be determined later today depending on the outcome of the men's semifinals. The championship match will either begin at 10 am or 11 am at the Palmetto Tennis Center.
