THE SERIES
The Fleet now lead the all-time series against the Valkyries 9-5 and have won four straight in a series that began in 2007.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams were held scoreless in the opening half as Erskine was held to just four shots and Converse was limited to just two shots in the first 45 minutes. The Fleet continued to create the majority of the chances before eventually finding a breakthrough in the 75th minute. Devyn Cabral forced a save out of the Converse goalkeeper, which was parried behind for a corner kick. Cabral took the corner kick and delivered a perfect ball right onto the penalty spot, which led to a goalmouth scramble before Kelsey Tyson got the final touch to give Erskine a 1-0 lead. Just minutes later, Converse set a ball into the box which was fumbled by the Fleet goalie and originally ruled to be an own goal. But after a conversation between the officials, the decision was overturned, and the Fleet maintained the lead. Erskine held most of the possession in the final ten minutes to finish off a 1-0 victory over Converse.

THE PLAYER
Kelsey Tyson tallied two of the Fleet's eight shots on goal, including the most vital shot as she tucked away a goalmouth scramble from about two yards out in the 75th minute for the only goal of the game.

THE TEAM
Erskine finished with eight shots, five of which were on target, and held Converse to five shots and two on target. Erskine goalkeeper Cheyenne Fuller saved both Valkyries' shots on goal.

WHAT'S NEXT?
Erskine continues its start the 2021 conference-only season with another road bout at King University (0-0, 0-0) next Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.

The Tornado are 1-6 all-time against the Fleet, but Erskine earned its first win in the series in the most recent meeting with a 2-0 home victory back in November 2019. Second half goals from Katie Cauble and Lauren Mullen earned Erskine the win.
