WILSON, N.C. – The Erskine College baseball team (4-4, 2-0 CC) swept Barton College (0-4, 0-2 CC) 11-4 and 23-8 at Nixon Field on Saturday afternoon.

Dating back to the 2017-18 season, Erskine has now won seven of the past eight games with Barton.
HOW IT HAPPENED
GAME 1: With two outs in the first, Drew Yniesta got things started for the Fleet with a solo home run. Erskine added two runs in the second when Jaisen Randolph doubled to right center and then Tariq Bacon singled to right center. After the Bulldogs got on the board in the third, the Fleet scored three runs in the fifth. The first three Fleet reached base. Cody Forster connected for a leadoff single followed by a Livan Reinoso RBI triple to right field. Reinoso scored when Drew Yniesta hit a double. Yniesta later scored in the inning off a Trevor Lesane sacrifice fly. Erskine scored four runs in the sixth. Bacon brought in Cal Bochino with an RBI single to left field. Yniesta connected for his second long ball later in the inning, a three run shot. The Fleet added one more in the seventh and hung on for the 11-4 win. Allan Saathoff (1-0) started and tossed five inning, earning his first win on the season.
GAME 2:Â The Fleet bats wasted little time coming to life in the second game as a pair of RBI doubles from Livan Reinoso and Drew Yniesta quickly gave Erskine a 2-0 lead. Trevor Lesane connected for a two single to right field to bring in both Dalton Reeves and Yniesta. The Fleet plated three more when Tariq Bacon cleared the bases with a triple to center field. In the bottom of the first, however, Barton put three past home and added four more in the second to tie at 7-7 after two. The tie wouldn't last long as in the top of the third the Fleet scored four more. An RBI double off the bat of Cody Forster brought in Bacon. Reinoso then brought in two with a double and would later score off a Reeves double to left field. Later in the fifth, Reinoso brought in his fourth run of the game when he singled to center to score Armando Becerra. After five innings the Fleet led 14-7. Yniesta connected for a double to right field to plate two more for the Fleet in the sixth. After a seven run sixth and two more runs in the seventh, Erskine secure the 23-8 win to complete the sweep.
THE PLAYER
GAME 1: Drew Yniesta saw the ball well all day as he finished 3-for-4 from the plate with five RBI and three runs scored.
GAME 2: Dalton Reeves went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles and four RBI. Reeves also scored twice and reached base via a walk.
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Fleet remain on the road next weekend as they travel to North Greenville University (2-1, 0-0 CC) for a three-game series.
First pitch on Friday, February 26 is set for 3:00 p.m. The Fleet look to turn things around against the Crusaders who have won five of the last six meetings.
