ANDERSON, S.C. – The Erskine College women's soccer team (0-8, 0-6 CC) lost a heartbreaker to the University of Mount Olive (8-0-2, 5-0-1 CC) as a free kick goal from the Trojans in the final seconds of double overtime gave Mount Olive a 1-0 win at Spero Financial Field on Saturday afternoon.

THE SERIES
Mount Olive now leads the all-time series 6-3-0 and has won the last two meetings between the teams.

THE MATCH
Erskine was outshot seven to two in the first half where Mount Olive controlled most of the possession, but neither side created any good chances as the match was scoreless at the half. In the second half, the visitors were much more dangerous, creating eight shots, but the Trojans hit the woodwork on two different occasions to keep the match scoreless. The Fleet didn't test the Mount Olive goal in the second half until the final few minutes, but had three attempts in a 90-second stretch as they nearly found a late winner, but the match remained 0-0 and went to overtime. Erskine defended for a majority of both overtime periods and Kaylie Hayes made a couple big saves to keep the Fleet alive, but with just 34 seconds remaining in the second overtime, Mount Olive won a free kick just outside the box. Ashley Kerekes slotted home the free kick to give the visitors a 1-0 victory.

THE PLAYER
Erskine goalkeeper Kaylie Hayes had a valiant effort looking for her first clean sheet of the year, making six saves in the match, a few from point-blank range.

THE TEAM
Mount Olive outshot Erskine 20 to six and had a seven to three advantage in shots on target. The Trojans also had all 14 corner kicks in the match.
 
WHAT'S NEXT?
The Fleet continue conference play on Tuesday evening at Emmanuel College (2-8, 1-5 CC) at 5:30 p.m. The Lions have won four of the six meetings all-time including a 4-0 win in Due West back in March of this year.
