THE SERIES
Emmanuel has won four straight meetings against the Fleet and has a 6-2-0 lead all-time in the series.
THE MATCH
Both teams started the match on the front foot, creating a number of chances in the opening half hour, but it was the hosts who took the lead in the 31st minute on a goal from Viki Lederer. The Fleet did not tally a shot for the remainder of the half but a pair of saves from
Kaylie Hayes kept the deficit at just 1-0 at the halftime break. The Fleet outshot Emmanuel three to one in the early stages of the second half, but against the run of play, the Lions doubled their lead with a 72nd-minute goal from Tenley Hanhardt. However, Erskine immediately answered back with a goal from
Jane Ashley Meredith just moments later to give the Fleet a chance. Erskine was shown a red card in the 81st minute and were forced to play the final nine minutes down a player. Meredith got off two shots in the closing stages but neither were on target as the Fleet were beaten by Emmanuel, 2-1.
