WILSON, N.C. – The Erskine College women's soccer team (0-10, 0-8 CC) was defeated by Barton College (6-5-1, 4-3-1 CC) by a score of 2-0 at the Bulldogs Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.

THE MATCH
Barton dominated the first half early and often as the Fleet attack struggled to create opportunities going forward. But, behind six first-half saves from freshman
Abby McElveen in her first collegiate start, the Fleet managed to get to the halftime break with the match being scoreless. However, the second half followed the same trend as the first 45 minutes and Barton eventually found a breakthrough less than three minutes into the half on a Cambria Oldham goal to take a 1-0 lead. The Fleet attack was unable to muster a shot in the match and the Bulldogs sealed it with a late goal from Hailey Russell to finish off a 2-0 win over Erskine.

Barton outshot Erskine 18 to zero and had a 11 to zero advantage in shots on target.

The Fleet continue conference play when they return home for a bout with King University (3-7, 2-5 CC) on Wednesday evening at 5:00 p.m. The Tornado lead the all-time series 6-2-1, but the Fleet have earned two wins and a draw in their last three meetings.Â
