The Flying Fleet took a 3-0 win over Lees-McRae in tonight's Conference Carolina's men's volleyball matchup. This victory snaps a two game losing streak and posts the Flying Fleet's first conference win of the season.

Edge Austin went on a four point serving run to push the Fleet ahead.
Francisco Pomar and
Jon Fuller put together service runs of their own later in the game, boosting the Fleet's point advantage.
Josh Arrowood and
Jon Fuller put up a strong block on Lees-McRae's outside hitter, Drew Sims, to end the set 25-19. Throughout the second set, the Fleet and the Bobcats stayed within two points of each other until a four point run from Lees-McRae's Bradley Peters gave the Bobcats a 19-21 lead over the Fleet. Strong play from
Jacob Whyte and a timely ace from
Marc McArthur pushed the Fleet ahead for a 26-24 win in the second set. Austin started off the third set with an immediate kill to give the Fleet a one point lead, a lead they would maintain for most of the set. The Bobcats would manage to tie the game once at 11-11, when Pomar once again found Austin to help reclaim the lead. At 24-21, the Bobcats put together one last effort and managed to even the score once more at 24-24, but a kill from
Caleb Slater and an error from the Bobcats ended the third set 26-24, giving Erskine the 3-0 victory on the match.
Jacob Whyte,
Josh Arrowood, and
Caleb Slater each hit an impressive .400, while Whyte added a team high of 9 digs.
Francisco Pomar tallied 29 assists and an additional 6 digs for the Fleet. Erskine had a total of 42 kills and 28 digs on the three set match.
The Fleet continue their Conference Carolina's road trip with a match against King University on Saturday, February 8.
