Flying Fleet men's volleyball fell to Limestone in Wednesday's Conference Carolinas competition. The Saints took the match 25-14, 25-18, 25-19.
The first set started slow for the Fleet, with Limestone taking an early lead that they wouldn't give up for the remainder of the set. Slater and Sall put together a solid first set, with Slater hitting 1.000 with two kills on two sets and Sall earning three kills on six attempts. The second set fared slightly better for the Fleet with three lead changes and their best hitting percentage of the night. Whyte contributed four kills and Sall another three. The third set saw De Jesus enter the match and post five kills and an ace. Slater continued to post strong numbers with two kills on three attempts and Whyte added an additional three kills.
Caleb slater finished the match with a .667 hitting percentage, earning five kills on six attempts on just one error on the night. Jason Sall and Jacob Whyte each tallied eight kills on the night and Sall added a team high five digs. Abel de Jesus added five kills and two digs in his third set performance. Whyte, Slater, and de Jesus each posted one ace on the match.
The Fleet will take a break from Conference Carolinas play and host Bluefield College in Belk Area on Monday, March 9.
