Fleet lacrosse fell 19-8 in a non-conference matchup in Salisbury, NC against Catawba College on Wednesday afternoon.

A quick goal in the first minute of the game gave Catawba a 1-0 lead before Amanda Epstein was able to sneak one past the defense for a shot that would tie the game. The Fleet would hold this lead for only 35 seconds, when Catawba would go on a five-goal scoring run to take a 6-1 lead. Back-to-back goals from Flanagan and Schlagenhauf cut the Catawba lead to three, but the Fleet were unable to close the gap. Catawba finished the half with thirteen goals to the Fleet's three. The second half would start with three Catawba goals until another two from Schlagenhauf halfway through the second period added to Erskine's score. Although three more goals were scored in the second half for Erskine, Catawba continued to add to their lead and took the game 19-8.

Katie Schlagenhauf led the Fleet with six total shots and five goals. Faith Flanagan posted two goals on seven shot attempts and Amanda Epstein contributed one goal on her two shots of the night.

The Fleet will travel to Newberry, SC to continue non-conference play on Saturday, February 22.
