Erskine and Spartanburg Methodist have never met for an official regular season contest.

THE MATCH
The first goal was scored by Spartanburg Methodist's Campbell Gibson in the 19th minute. Gibson's goal was assisted Beyonce Williams. While the Fleet outshot the visiting Pioneers 13-3 in the first half, the score remained 1-0 in favor of SMC at halftime. The second half saw two goals, one from SMC's Beyone Williams. Williams finish was assisted by Amiyah Robinson in the 74th minute. The Pioneers maintained a 2-0 lead until
Kaylee Whitfield struck in the 88th minute to pull the Fleet within a goal. Whitfield's goal was unassisted.

The Fleet move to 1-1 during their 2020-21 fall campaign.

WHAT'S NEXT?
The Fleet take the pitch in two weeks' time when they travel to Winston-Salem, NC to face Carolina University for the NCCAA South Regional Championship match on Nov. 7.

The fixture will serve as a rematch from last season's NCCAA South Regional opener in which Erskine handed Carolina University a 7-1 defeat.

That meeting was the only time the two squads have met in program history with Erskine earning the 1-0 edge all-time.
