Erskine Mourns Passing of Former Baseball Coach Harry Stille

DUE WEST--     Dr. Harry Stille, who came to Erskine more than 60 years ago to teach physical education and assist with the baseball team, died Monday, January 6th. He served as physical education professor and was head baseball coach from 1959-1988, retiring as head of the physical education department in 1991. Stille won 430 baseball games, ranking him second all-time in Erskine history. Stille is a member of the NAIA Hall of Fame along with the Flying Fleet Fleet Hall of Fame. He also trained driver education teachers each summer at Erskine for 60 years. He was closely tied to his community and state, serving as mayor of Due West for more than two decades and as a state representative from 1991-2003.

The funeral service is planned for Saturday, Jan. 11, at 1:00 p.m. in the Due West ARP Church. The visitation will be Friday, Jan. 10, at the Renaissance from 3:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m.
