Box Score 2 Due West, SC – The Flying Fleet split a Conference Carolinas double header with Mount Olive Saturday afternoon. Erskine won game one 4-2 and the Trojans would win the second game 10-2.
Game One
The Fleet would score two runs in the bottom of the first to take the early lead.
Reagan Davis and
Brittany Reynolds would lead off with back to back singles and
Sydney Smith would reach base on a fielder's choice.
Lydia Trexler would then draw a walk to load the bases. With two outs,
Britton Young would reach on an error, scoring Davis and Smith. In the second inning Smith would line a two run double to center field to extend the lead to four. It would remain 4-0 until the sixth, when the Trojans would take advantage of an Erskine error to score two runs. That would be all they would get as Erskine would hold on for the win.
Smith led the Fleet at the plate going 2-3 with a double and two RBI's, while Davie was 2-4 with two runs scored. Reynolds, Young and
Mia Blochviak each added one hit.
Danica Newton (7-4) picked up the win allowing two runs on four hits in seven innings of work.
Game Two
Mount Olive would score nine runs in the second and third inning to blow the game open and would go on for the 10-2 victory.
Blochviak was 2-2 with a double, an RBI and run scored to lead the Fleet offense. Davis, Reynolds,
Jill Sprague, and
Christine Long each had one hit.
Candace Fitch (10-6) took the loss allowing nine runs on 11 hits in 2.2 innings of work.
