Gaffney, SC – The Flying Fleet split a Conference Carolinas double header with Limestone College Thursday afternoon.
Game One
In the top of the first,
Lydia Trexler would get hit by a pitch to lead off the inning.
Chandler Crawford would advance her to second base with a sacrifice bunt and then
Britton Young would double to right center to give Erskine the lead. Young would then score on a single by
Mia Blochviak to make it 2-0. The Fleet would add a run in the third when
Sydney Smith singled and scored on a double by Trexler. A two run double by
Reagan Davis in the fourth would increase the lead to five. The Saints would score two runs in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead to 5-2, but Erskine would add a run in the seventh to take the 6-2 win.
Smith was 3-4 with a double and two runs scored, while Davis and Trexler each had oen hit and two RBI's.
Candace Fitch (10-5) picked up the win allowing two runs on seven hits and striking out four in seven innings of work.
Game Two
Limestone would score a run in the first and in the second and would go on for a 4-1 victory to secure the split.
Jacquie Hill was 2-2 at the plate for the Fleet, while Trexler was 1-2 with an RBI. Smith had a double and Bloviak and
Baylee Browning each had a hit.
Kaylin White (9-4) took the loss allowing two runs on three hits in 1.1 innings of work.
