Box Score 2 Misenheimer, NC – Erskine rebounded after losing the series opener Friday night to sweep a Conference Carolinas double header Saturday, winning game one 3-2 in 14 innings and game two 3-1.
Game OneChris Rave would give Erskine the early lead with a two out solo home run in the first inning. Pfeiffer would take advantage of an Erskine error to tie the game up in the third inning. While each team had its chances to score, neither team would score until the 14
th inning. In the top of the 14
th inning
Guner Sellers would double to left center and with two outs,
Tyler Phillips would hit his first home run of the season to give Erskine the 3-1 lead. Pfeiffer would score one run in the bottom half of the inning but that would be all they would get as Erskine held on for the win.
Rave was 2-3 with a home run and RBI, while
Henry Faunce and
Chaz Davey each had two hits for the Fleet.
Joe Johnson (4-1) picked up the win allowing one run on four hits and striking out four in 5.2 innings of relief work.
Game TwoNeither team would be able to score for the first three innings, but in the fourth inning, Faunce would single up the middle and advance to third on a double by Davey. Faunce would score on a ground out by
Destin Nichols to give the Fleet the 1-0 lead. In the fifth,
Trevor Wood would single and
Sam Cothran would draw a walk. Wood would score on a single by Rave and Cothran would advance to third. Cothran would then score when Rave got caught in a run down and Erskine would take a 3-0 lead. Pfeiffer would get a run in the bottom half of the inning but Erskine would hold on for the win.
Davey was a perfect 3-3 with two doubles, while Phillips was 2-3.
Kyle Heiss also added a double in the win.
Landon Dickerson (2-1) picked up the win allowing one hit in 0.2 innings of relief and Johnson (1) got the save allowing three runs and striking out one in two innings of relief.
