Erskine's undefeated run came to an end Thursday night in a thrilling 5 set match with Barton (25-19, 27-25, 23-25, 24-26, 15-11).   This moves Erskine to 9-4 overall and 8-1 in conference play.  The Bulldogs improve their record to 11-3 overall and 7-2 in the conference. 

The Bulldogs kept the Fleet's offense from getting above .200 for the first 3 sets and made a strong impact on the net with 13.5 blocks to the Fleet's 7.5 total for the night.

"Barton played a great match.  We started a little slow, but really picked up the energy in the third and fourth sets.  We couldn't stick with it to win the fifth set," said senior libero, Michael Schneck.  The Fleet were led by Mike Michelau with 28 kills and finished with a .315 hitting percentage.  Roberto Perez Vargas had 17 kills and hit .289.  David Grandy dished out 57 assists and added 9 digs.

The Fleet will continue on their road trip to Coker College to play Alderson-Broaddus at 5pm and Coker College at 7pm on Friday.  They then play an additional two matches on Saturday with the first one against Alderson-Broaddus, again, at 1pm and then Coker, again, at 3pm.  The link for live stats and video can be found here:  http://cokercobras.com/sports/mvball/cokerinvitational
