Misenheimer, NC – Pfeiffer took advantage of two early Erskine errors and held off a ninth inning rally to defeat the Fleet 11-6 in the opening game of the Conference Carolinas series.
Pfeiffer would take a 1-0 lead in the second on a solo home run, but Erskine would respond in the top of the third with an RBI single by
Sam Cothran and RBI double by
Chris Rave to take a 2-1 lead. The lead would be short lived as the Falcons would take advantage of a Fleet error in the third to score three runs to go up 4-2. Pfieffer would add two more run in the fourth, four runs in the sixth and a run in the eighth to make it an 11-2 game. Erskine would try to rally in the ninth scoring four runs, but Pfeiffer would shut down the rally and take the win.
Rave was 2-4 with a double and RBI to lead the Fleer offense, while
Tanner Lollis was 2-3 with a double and RBI and Tyler Phillps was 2-4.
Chase Watts was 1-3 with a double and two runs driven in.
Alex Calvert (3-1) took the loss allowing seven earned runs on none hits in 5.1 innings of work.
The two teams will conclude their series with a double header starting at 2:00 pm tomorrow.
