Bristol, TN – The Flying Fleet swept a Conference Carolinas double header from King University Friday to remain undefeated in conference play.
Game OneIn the top of the first,
Brittany Reynolds would double down the left field line and score on a double by
Chandler Crawford to give Erskine the lead. Crawford would score on a single by
Lydia Trexler to make it 2-0. The Fleet would add another run in the second to extend their lead to three. King would score two runs in the third and a run in the fourth to tie the game at three. The Fleet would explode for six runs in the sixth to regain the lead, with the big blow coming from a two run double by Trexler. Erskine would add two more in the seventh to take an 11-4 victory.
Trexler was a perfect 4-4 with a double and three RBI's for the Fleet. Reynolds, Crawford,
Christine Long, and
Mia Blochviak each had two hits in the win.
Kaylin White (8-2) picked up the win allowing two runs on five hits and striking out five in 4.2 innings of relief work.
Game TwoTrailing 1-0 in the top of the fifth,
Jacquie Hill would double to left center and with two outs Long would blast a two run home run to left center to give Erskine a 2-1 lead. The Fleet would add an insurance run in the seventh when Trexler doubled and scored on a sacrifice fly by
Britton Young. King would get a leadoff double in the bottom of the seventh, but
Candace Fitch would come in and strike out the next three batters to pick up her fourth save.
Long was 1-3 with the home run and two RBI's, while Trexler and Hill each had a double. White (9-2) picked up her second win of the day, allowing one run on four hits and striking out four in six innings of work.
