Erskine Sweeps Converse

Spartanburg, SC – The Flying Fleet swept a Conference Carolinas double header from Converse College Wednesday afternoon, winning game one 8-0 and game two 6-2 to remain undefeated in conference play.

Game One

Reagan Davis would lead off the game with a double to right center and then score on a sacrifice fly by Sydney Smith to give Erskine the early lead.  Smith would have a RBI single in the fifth, followed by a three run double by Brooke Rhinehardt to make it 5-0.  The Fleet would add three more in the sixth and take the victory.  

Brittany Reynolds would go 2-3 with an RBI, while Rhinehardt was 1-2 with a double and three RBI's.  Britton Young was 1-3 with a home run and one run driven in, while Smith dorve in two runs.  Danica Newton (4-2) picked up the win allowing four hits and striking out seven in six innings of work.

Game Two

In the bottom of the second, Jacquie Hill would lead off with a double and later score on a ground out by Christine Long to make it a 1-0 game.  Lydia Trexler would reach on an error and score on a single by Mia Blochviak.  Reynolds would finish the scoring in the inning for Erskine with a two run single to make it 4-0.  Blochviak would have an RBI double in the fourth and score on a single by Reynolds to increase the lead to six.  Converse would add a run in the fifth and one in the sixth but it would not be enough.  

Reynolds was 3-4 with three RBI's and Blochviak was 2-2 with a double and two runs driven in, while Smith also had two hits.  Candace Fitch (7-4) picked up the win allowing one earned run on four hits and striking out 10 in seven innings.
