Newberry, SC – Newberry scored four unanswered runs over two innings to take a 5-4 victory over Erskine Tuesday night in nonconference baseball action.
Trailing 1-0 in the fifth, AJ Fabrizo and
Tanner Lollis would single to lead off the inning.
Sam Cothran would walk to load the bases and with one out
Henry Faunce would draw a walk to score Lollis and tie the game at one.
Chaz Davey would then hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Cothran and give Erskine the one run lead. In the top of the sixth
Tyler Phillips would walk and
Kyle Heiss would single to lead off the inning. Frabrizio would lay down a sacrifice but to advance the runners into scoring position. Pinch hitter
Chris Rave would hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Phillips and then
Chase Watts would single to score Heiss to make it a 4-1 game. The Wolves would take advantage of two Erskine errors in the sixth and seventh innings to score four runs and take the victory.
Faunce was the lone Erskine player with two hits, while Cothran, Watts, Phillips, Heiss, Fabrizio, Lollis, and
Destin Nichols all had one hit each.
Terry Hall (2-1) took the loss allowing two runs on one hit in one inning of relief work.
