Due West, SC – Erskine swept a Conference Carolinas softball double header from Southern Wesleyan Saturday afternoon to remain undefeated in the conference. The Fleet won game one 11-1 and game two 6-5 in 10 innings.
Game OneErskine would take advantage of two errors to score eight first inning runs. The big blows of the inning were a two run double by
Christine Long and a two run single by
Reagan Davis. Erskine would add a run in the second and two in the fourth to take the victory.
Long was 2-3 with two doubles and three RBI's to lead the Fleet, while Davis was 2-3 with two runs driven in and two runs scored.
Mia Blochviak and
Britton Young each had one hit for Erskine.
Danica Newton (3-1) picked up the win allowing one run on five hits and striking out five in five innings of work.
Game TwoThe Warriors would score a run in the second and one in the fourth to take the 2-0 lead. In the bottom of the sixth
Lydia Trexler would single to score Davis to make it a one run game and
Jacquie Hill would later draw a bases loaded walk to tie the game at two. Neither team would score in the seventh inning, sending the game into extra innings. Southern Wesleyan would look to have control of the game when Lizzie Fela would double with the bases loaded to clear the bases and give the Warriors a 5-2 lead. In the bottom half of the inning
Sydney Smith would single to score Davis and then
Chandler Crawford would hit a two run home run to tie the game at five. The game would remain tied until the bottom of the 10
th when
Brittany Reynolds would single to score Davis and give Erskine the win.
Smith was 2-4 with two runs scored and one RBI to lead the Fleet while Crawford was 1-2 with a home run and two RBI's.
Kaylin White (7-2) picked up the win allowing three runs on one hit and one strike out in 4.1 innings of relief work.
