Fleet Take Two From King

Due West, SC – The Flying Fleet scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh in game one to get the 7-6 walk off victory and exploded for a 28-6 victory over King in the second game to sweep a Conference Carolinas double header from the Tornado Saturday.

Game One
Trailing 4-3 in the top of the sixth, King would score three runs to take a 6-4 lead and hold that lead going into the bottom of the seventh inning.  With one out, Destin Nichols would single through the right side and Tyler Phillips would single up the middle.  Kyle Heiss would double off the left centerfield wall to score Nichols and make it a one run game.  Pinch hitter Guner Sellers would reach on a fielder's choice with Phillips being thrown out at the plate.  AJ Fabrizio would single to right to tie the game up and pinch runner Chris Moody would advance to third.  Sam Cothran would then single through the right side of the infield to score the winning run for the Fleet. 

Heiss was 2-3 with a double and two RBI's for the Fleet, while Davey was 3-4 with two doubles and two runs scored.  Terry Hall (1-0) picked up the win allowing no hits and striking out two in one inning of work.

Game Two

The Tornado would take a 4-0 lead in the top of the first in a grand slam by Austin Dayton.  In the bottom half of the inning Fabrizio and Cothran would lead off with back to back singles.  Fabrizio would advance to third on a fly out by Chris Rave and score on a wild pitch to make it 4-1.  Henry Faunce would then draw a walk and Davey would blast a three run home run to left to tie the game at four.  With the game tied in the bottom of the fourth, Erskine would go one to score 23 unanswered runs, including 14 runs in the fifth inning to take the 28-6 victory.

Cothran was 5-6 with a double and six runs scored while Rave was 3-7 with a double and seven RBI's.  Davey was 3-6 with a home run and four RBI's, while Faunce and Tyler Phillips each hit a home run.  Hall (2-0) picked up his second win of the day allowing one hit and striking out four in 3.1 innings of relief work.
